COURSE OF THE CADETS AFTER GRADUATION
Cadets
After finishing the regular and postgraduate courses at Japan Coast Guard Academy, graduates work on board patrol vessels as junior staff and engage themselves in the maritime safety duties such as guard and rescue, protecting marine environment, controling of marine crimes and securing of maritime traffic safety.

Subsequently, they will taken on on-shore duty at the Headquarters in Tokyo or District Maritime Safety Headquarters, taking charge of the planning and framing of projects regarding the administration of maritime safety, as well as the consultation and co-ordination with other ministries and agencies.

From then on, experiencing on-shore and off-shore duties alternately, they will pursue their careers as coast guard officers and make their way towards becoming officials in positions of responsibility such as leading members of Regional Coast Guard Headquarters, Coast Guard Offices, or large patrol vessels.
