Five 7th batch students of the Maritime Safety and Security Policy Program (MSP) visited to Commandant Ishii at the JCG headquarters on Friday, August 26, 2022.  They are two from Bangladesh, two from Sri Lanka, and one from Japan.

The 7th batch program stared in October 2021, and the 7th batch students attended the program at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) until March, and then at the Japan Coast Guard Academy (JCGA) until August.

During the courtesy call, the representative of the students greeted and words of consolation from Commandant was given.  They exchanged gifts and commemorative photos were taken.

The students said, “we not only learned a great deal of specialize knowledge, but also were able to witness front-line operations firsthand through the tours of operations and facilities.  We also had a chance to see the nature and historical buildings in Japan.  We would like to thank everyone involved and will apply the knowledge gained from this program to our organizations in our respective countries.”

Commandant Ishi gave words of consolation, “I am pleased to hear the report of the results of the one- year program and the expected awarding of the master’s degree.  I am sure that living in a different environment in a foreign country and the COVID-19 pandemic must have been very difficult for you.  I hope that you will contribute to the peace, security, and development of the Indo-Pacific region by making use of the experience and knowledge gained through this program, as well as the bonds you have cultivated.
